I am appreciative of the efforts of all concerned with identification of the rolling stock in question and the settlement reached.
2. Covering approval is given for the settlement reached with the Chinese Railway Authorities for the return of rolling stock and for the consequential adjustments to the Railway accounts.
3. I also approve the write off of 478,320.59 in respect of losses incurred owing to the method of transfer of earnings by the Chinese Authorities during the period 1/5/46 to 31/8/46.
